True Networking is Building Relationships and Providing Value

By Reginald Sinevet On December 2, 2007 Under Sharing

Being part of the internet and network marketing industries have taught me some invaluable things, one of which is that your business is about people.  Most people won’t buy or take you up on your offer until you’ve built some type of relationship that adds value to their lives.  You have to always think of “what’s in it for me”  So, you have to provide more value than they expect and then they’ll make the decision to take you up on your offer.  People want to sell themselves.  They clam up when you’re trying to sell them.

Do you like being sold or constantly bombarded with different offers from people you don’t know?  Isn’t that a turn off?  I admit, I was responsible for always trying “sell” before building that relationship and providing that value of “what’s in it for me” for a long time.  I’ve since changed my ways because it’s not a great model.

I shared the below with friends/business connections on Plaxo recently and got some good feedback from those who realize that true networking must be done in this fashion for long term growth.  What do you think?

I know we all have our agendas in promoting whatever business or opportunity that we’re currently in. I think we’ve lost the most subtle way of connecting with people which to get to know one another instead of just coming out of the gate with a business that you want to share.

I’ve been guilty of doing exactly what I just wrote, but having been changing my approach. In the end it’s all about the relationships that we build and share with one another.

With that said, I’d like you to know about me. I created a whois Reginald Sinevet page that provides my background, interests and whatnot. Take a look at http://internet-network-marketer.com

I can help design a site just like it for you if you’re interested.

Anyway, that’s my thought for the day. Let me know what you think.
